mom had a slight interruption in her new phase of chemo treatment -she had to get a tooth pulled....now she is going to see her oncologist friday and he will either start her or discuss treatment plan. we dont know what its called yet all I know is its IV(she usually has trouble with them-clotting) 4 hrs sessions dont know how many per week or how many weeks yet. no-one needs to respond to this -just updating whats next-should know a bit more next time I post. her emotions from the wait and worry are playing havoc Crying or Very sad Mad on her-she was so on edge this Sunday we had a arguement Mad over something soo rediculous that ended with both of us in tears Crying or Very sad and apologizing to each other and ending up with but I still love you. Wink Very Happy

Hi - I once read of a method of dealing with frustration and anger. Keep a box with old and unwanted china. When you need to release feelings, go outside to a place where there is a nice wall and throw the china at it. Very satisfying!

I am so sorry you have had this blip in your mother's treatment, and can well understand how feelings can get out of hand. It's just the stress of the situation.

Pet the puppy when you get home. Wink

Vee Smith-hi there I know what your saying ---just that mom wouldnt go for that-never threw a thing out of anger or frustration in her life.. as a matter of fact no-one in my family has ,or even raised hands at each other. but me-well I must have an oddball gene in our family..sometimes I would like to do a number on a punching body bag! if we had the room in our home I surely would have invested in one-but our flareups are fast strong and overwith in a matter of an hour or so... Im glad -Im one of tose cant stand to go to sleep angry or upset..I need to resolve the matter.

Mom has had her first IV treatment lasted 4 hour combination ERBITUX and CAMPTSAR (they cut the doses in half because she cant tolorate normal amounts of any drug) the next 3 will be only the ERBITUX for 1-1/2 hour sessions. every friday. 1 time a month with both drugs 4 hour sessions and 3 times the one -she has to do this for 16 weeks if she tolorates it---they told her rash on the face and neck is a definate(how severe depends on the individual) and diahrea an definate-sent her home with something for nausea, cream for the rash, and immodium. well she still had us over(insistently) Sun for dinner she said frozen pizza and salad (we all said fine) she didnt want anyone to bring anything and of course when we got there it was other sides WITH the pizza- LITTLE STINKER! anyway she is crampy nauseaus diahreah/constipated she needs to adjust her immodium intake yet. she is VERY tired and looks it. now that I found out what she is taking maybe someone will have had some experience good or bad with them plaease let me know thanx sheila

mom had 2nd chemo on fri- 14 more to go. says the only problem she is having right now is extreme weakness and tired...dragging tired like she strips a bed waits awhile-sits etc-takes them down to the washer-another break makes the bed -might take her a couple of hours to complete something she would have done in less then 5 min.-grocery shopping is a real drainer for her too. The doctor said she could drink boost. she is but doesnt care for it and it doesnt seem to live up to its name as far as she is concerned. still not allowed to consume any type of vitamins.as in suppliments.and-she still wants to make dinner this Sunday-but she did say I can help her clean the house a bit- she feels backed up,,, no problem Im there from 2:30-8pm surely I can get some of the things done that are bothereing her-for her to agree to that-believe me her energy is ZAPPED.

sheila, it sounds like a rash of some kind... maybe an allergic reaction. If these spots where around he torso I might suggest that it was an outbreak of shingles. The presentation of shingles is almost the same as you describe except that shingles more often than not do have a certain degree of pain associated with them.

Regardless, I would have them checked by her medical team.

The rash was a normal reaction-she is now anemic(not real bad yet) and today she was very down ...said her hair is comming out again only faster and in bigger clumps then last time. this was her 3rd treatment at 1/2the normal dose and the doctor said if it started to fall out it probably wouldnt happen for several more treatments. But it is already.(such a cruel heartless disease)...my whole body aches and Im so sad and depressedfor her. This ongoing rollercoaster is enough to break even the strongest of people. But I will be sad here at home and put on my best carry on act. untill she wants to talk seriously then I will cry with her. do us both good. sometimes I look at crying as getting rid of the unwanted feelings and bad negative thoughts to make room for the good posituive ones Helps somewhat. She still wants to make dinner tomorrow and only asked me to bring a dessert- on the lighter side of sadness-Strawberry ice cream on vanilla cake! UMMM! Smile

poor mom shes really getting depressed-she had a bad day Crying or Very sad
she went for the double dose treatment today-3-4hrs her hair this morning is really comming out-she feels she will be bald in about a week. shes soo exhausted and anemic. (not enough to do anything about it yet)(excuse me? why wait till it gets worse?) they had trouble getting the iv in - her arm got a bubble on it so they had to try another place.this is only the 4th treatment she has to do 12 more if tolerable. The doctor couldnt believe the hair loss at such a low dose and already. she may have trouble. then near the last 15 minutes of the treatment -her colostomy bag burst and went down her leg-she had to put a whole new one on from scratch seal etc.with an iv in her arm and change her cloths- she was crying when she told me todays events. then had to sit back down "for them to put more poison in her"
The saddest part of this is I cant help her. Its such a deep hurt. me or my Sis IL may be taking over thanksgiving this year.

she was not feeling well thanksgiving day we went to her house but me and my sisterinlaw made the meal(we didnt mind) mom had no energy and tried to eat with us took two bites and asked if we mind if she lie down for awhile. she ate later . I know it bothered her not to paticipate in making the dinner.(we said hey take a break! how many years have you been doing it?-your turn to relax) so it all went well despite how she was feeling. I think too knmowing she had to have chemo again today was upsetting her. Its driving her crazy to be soo tired -she never was one to sit much. well hopefully she will soon have a better day, she gets them occasionally. Im trying to get everything at my house done for the holidays so Ill have free time to help her out. hopefully two more weeks and I should be done with everything! Im going as fast as I can. I still at this point have alot of baking to do-Ill be making extra for mom this year so if she doesnt feel like baking anything we'll all have plenty. I dont mind. well thats where we are at right now- her rash cleared up her scalp is still broken out and she basically lost all her her9she said but wont show-except for a little gray....she said she looks so old without her wig its making her sick. it hurts me that I cant make her happy even for a little while...

moms tired but her moods picking up a bittoday she is working on her christamas tree-said its rough on her fingers because the chemo makes them really sore.shes using gloves its just doesnt hurt as much that way.this friday will be her 5th chemo but its the double one every 3rd week thats the roughest. but she goes shopping for an hour or so and is getting her things done for the holidays-trying to stay in an up modeas much as she can. Im so proud of her and love her soo much! I hope she is ok enough to enjoy christamas! Ill bake enough for both of us-and this way she will have everything with less hassels if she wants to she can make her candy on one of her more energy days.

sheila, I am sorry that your mother is so weak. I do hope you have a good holiday season and that your mother has many "up" days.

I am sorry that no one... me included... replies to you. I do read all of your posts updating your mother's story. It is just that I am not that familiar with Liver Cancers.

I am glad that at least you can use the forum to put into words what is happening with you and your mother.

You and your mother are in my thoughts and prayers.
