Back/hip pain

My dad was diagnosed with pc on August 21, he has mets to his liver and bladder. I am assuming it did not pack a suitcase and land in his liver and bladder but traveled through his lymph system to get there?
My sister and I traveled to his home on August 23rd and have been there ever since, we have watched his pain level increase even though his level of pain meds have also increased.
It is becoming more and more difficult for him to walk, he says that is due to extreme back and hip pain. Does anyone have any experience with that?
He started on Gemzar and after 2-3 week rounds they may add Tarceva. His attitude has always been "if a bufferin won't fix it, God probably didn't mean for it to be fixed" so I'm not sure how much longer he will participate in the chemo process especially with the pain increasing like it is.
I read your posts and my heart aches, he like your parents and friends is a good person who should not have to suffer like this. I appreciate the information I have picked up here.
If anyone has experience with the hip pain, I'm all ears!

My mom recently started having hip pain and she just thought it was from osteoperosis. I wonder if it's related to the cancer? I too would like more info on this.

Hello,

With my Dad he suffered back pain for a few months and it was suggested that is was to do with nerves being compressed or pinched. For the last month he developed severe pain in his right thigh and knee area which as warm to the touch. Unfortunately for us, the doctors were almost sure that the disease had metastised to the bones. They don't bother checking as he was at the end of paliative care and pain control was the only choice we had.

I hope for your Mum, the hip pain is due to nerves and nothing more sinister, but she should definitely mention it at her next appointment.

Mum diagnosed June 1993, surgery and chemo died August 1993 (Pancreatic Cancer)
Dad diagnosed July 2007, chemo only died January 2008 (Pancreatic Cancer)

Thank you Queensland Girl, my sister and I sort of suspected mets to his bones - suspected like you watch a horror movie, with one eye covered. What a tough road you have traveled with your parents, my heart goes out to you.
