59 year old, healthy, active who goes for yearly psa and digital. Last year I had a psa of 3.5 and had an ultrasound and biopsy. Psa was 3.5 and one biopsy was high(?) grade pin. One year later (this month) I had another follow up psa, ultrasound and 14 biopsies. Psa 2.8, ultrasound ok but one biopsy was diagnosed as suspicious. When I went back for the follow up visit, the urologist was very upset that he had nothing specific to tell me other than 'suspicious'. He immediately called the pathologist and demanded them to refer out. He then called me to tell me that it is one-tenth of one millimeter and the size of a whisker tip, as the pathologist described it. I go back in three months for a follow up biopsy. Obviously, I'm freaking out and looking for any comment.
Thanks for any input.

Hello,

My husband has had something similar occur. He has had everything done (biopsies, cameras etc) and had a pathology report stating there are some atypical cells present. We panicked a bit when we first got the results, but the urologist explained that sometimes peoples cells can look different without being sinister and the best course of action is to monitor. So my husband just has regular check-ups with the urologist and we have to assume that everything is normal and our lives continue.

All I can advise is to either wait for the check-up in three months, or if it is playing on your mind, try and get another appointment sooner for a second opinion. It certainly can't hurt ,except cost some more money, as peace of mind is worth everything.

Good luck
