Does anyone know if you need to keep doing Kegal exercises for the rest of your life after prostate removal? Or are the muscles sufficient strong and trained once you achieve complete bladder control such that you can stop the exercises?

Thanks

My understanding is that like other forms of exercise, it's well worth continuing to do them on a regular basis.

I am not sure what you are supposed to do. I suspect the answer depends on your needs.

I do NOT do Kegel exercises and have not for 4 years and my continence has remained very good.

I never did one kegel exercise after my surgery and I was dry after about 4 months. I read a study that said kegels are not necessary to become continent, they only help you get continent a little quicker.

The study followed a group of men after surgery where half did kegels routinely while the other half did no kegels. The group that did no kegels achieved the same amount of continence as the the group that kegeled, only it took them about a month more to become continent.
