I've been in pain for months with a mole on my chest. I've visited the doctor 5 times, each time seeing a different one. I was told I'd be on a 2 week waiting list about 6 weeks ago and I'd recieve a call when they were ready to remove it... no call. Basically I've been trying to get a few moles removed for about 6 months now, I'm going again tomorrow to try and sort it out.

I've basically concluded I have cancer, and that it has spread, because the pain from the mole started appearing now and again in the evenings & became more painful & more frequent. I began feeling it in my shoulder and upper arm, the whole area is sensitive to touch. The situation is now unbearable, I'm in constant pain all day every day, a large white area has appeared around the mole and my chest muscle aches like mad.

I was told by my Grandad that cancer itself doesn;t cause any pain, its the treatment that does, and have read that its extremely rare for melanomas to be painful, but in my mind there's really nothing else that could be causing this pain.

Has anybody here experienced pain with a melanoma? Do you know if there are any other conditions that can affect moles?

I have another strange mole that hurts as well, so it can't be that rare.

WOW GKJB, it has been several months since your original post and they still have not done anything?

I agree with all that you have read and what your grandfather told you; melanomas are not know to cause pain. However, the doctors still should do a biopsy.
