URGENT-- Mom Dying. Alternative Treatment Suggestions?

Hi,
My mom has advanced breast cancer; and my brother who is a doctor (not an Oncologist) just called me to tell me she might not have more than 3 months left! Of course she has been on chemotherapy, radiation, etc., all of it, for the last 16 months. but do you (the reader) know of any alternative, innovative, unconventional, not widely publicized treatment procedures at this stage of cancer, no matter how radical or where it is offered, that you could tell me or refer me to? If yes, please give the name of the persons or institutions involved in providing such cares? what about their web sites, if any? LINKS please, if you can. I could search online but I would much prefer first hand experiences. I am trying to delay my mom's death even for a few months. I know this may not sound rational but at least I will be learning something.

I am sorry for your mother and her situation, and sympathise with your distress.

You say she has advanced breast cancer. Can you give more details of her situation? I take it that the cancer has metastasized?

At the risk of seeming hard, I must emphasise that if she has been through the gamut of treatments, it is most unlikely that anything can be done. Many people turn to alternative treatments as a last resort, by which time it is too late.

Look online for the nearest Cancer Treatment Center of America or Fox Chase Cancer Center.

Both have the latest clinical trials and treatments.

I have metastatic breast cancer that has spread to my lymph nodes, chest wall, left arm and my liver. My cancer has estrogen positive receptors.
I am currently taking Xeloda chemo pills, 4000 mg daily for two wee4ks with one week break before doing another two weeks of this chemo pill.

all my tumors are shrinking very rapidly with Xeloda.
After only five weeks on Xeloda, the tumor on my liver went from 5.5cm to 4.1 cm

I didn’t believe any of it at first. But since I was suffering a lot and would do anything just to feel better, I emailed them and my life changed radically. They have medicines that really do wonders. In less than 2 weeks, I felt much better. The treatment itself took about 3 months. Now I live cancer free, I am living a miracle. I urge everybody to try alternative treatments, any alternative treatments. Chemo, radio and all pharmaceutical drugs are not the only things that help. Your Mom too could get cured if she’s still around. Use the internet.

This is dangerous advice. There is no evidence that such treatments "cure" cancer, and some evidence that they can prolong agony. It is a sad fact of life that is is desperation that leads people to turn to such treatments, and that in this state of mind they can be persuaded to pay out enormous sums of money in the vague hope of #"cure".

Please be very very cautious and look carefully at the economics apart from anything else. On a very basic level, my additional costs for supplementary items is running at over £100.00 per month. Fortunately I am able to carry this, but if there is any financial stringency it can be the straw breaking the camel's back.

People say cancer can't be cured because even on survivors the tumors could always grow back many years later. As of now, mine are gone and I am thankful for it.
