There's so much contradicting information out there.
By now I have read that you need to keep the body acidic but then others claim you need to keep the body alkaline.

Which is better and why?

It makes no difference. That is just a theory out there and has never been scientifically proven to show that there is any advantage to keeping the body alkaline. Beware of a lot of these "miracle" things --- there are people all over the internet hyping all kinds of things. Stick with what the doctor tells you and your Dad to do.

Cool Thank you pbj- in my experience and education in nutrition, continually it comes back to balance and moderation and adjustment depending on the caloric needs of ones' condition. There is NO miracle nutrition potion or combination that has ever been proven. I have seen people become ill trying to fluctuate their diet AND the docs meds- follow the doctor, and if needed, seek out a nutritionist who would be part of the medical team that cares for your Dad.
Good luck, and God Bless

Thanks. I guess you're right, best thing would be to go and see a dietician or nutritionist.
