Hello everyone
Here is my story short and to the point
i lost my medical coverage and now i cannot get ins.i have tried everything from A to Z!
I have two months worth of pill and then I'm out.
Question (1) Is there a place over seas for me to get my thyroid pills?
Question (2) if i cant get pills, how long do i have before i die?
please do not tell me i have to get ins!!! cant do it, cant afford it even if i could get it.only thing i could do is commit a crime and go to jail, or go on welfare, then i would have to live in a box, so forget that!no I am not married and it is just me. I'm sorry i really do not mean to sound rude to anyone, I'm just about had it with everything and kinda not seeing a long future the way things are going.
Thanks to everyone who can help. |

Don't buy overseas or if you do be picky. Lots of people get sick and die doing this. If its something that a dr. can write a generic prescription, why not pay cash? I take Levothyroxine for hypothyroid and it's only $12. Something to think about. The original doc might even call it in for you if you explain the problem. He/she would rather know you are healthy than to wonder. _________________ 47 YOA female. NSCLC IV Squamous cell. dx 7/07. Radiation, chemo (carboplatin/Taxotere). Cancer free 3/08! Stopped chemo went into HospiceJuly 24 2009, with prognosis of 3, maybe 4 months left. |
gotta, I am sorry about your health concerns. My questions are 1. Do you have cancer and if so 2. What kind of cancer do you have? 3. What kind of medication are you taking and why?
I do not mean to sound rude; the answer to these questions will help me answer your questions better.
Hi. I could pay cash for the meds, but getting the pills is a problem for me
They want me to take test to make sure they work. and i can't afford the price they want for the ct. nuke test. and they want it done every 6 months! and these test cost like $4000 gd or more to have them done,
I just can't afford that kind of money.
do you know how long it will be after i stop taking the pill that i will die?
Thank you. |
gotta, thank you for the answers. You must be on a thyroid hormone replacement med like I am. I take Levothyroxine (the generic form of Syntroid). I cannot imagine that you could get it any cheeper out of the country when you include shipping. If you are taking something else, ask your doctor if Levothyroxine would work for you.
Hi , The problem is i can't get a prescription for the pills to take without getting test done, and that i can not afford. the price is ok with me i only pay $13 for the two pills, 200 and a 50mg. |

Yeah, you would need a script and followup tests.
You do have two options:
1. Get a job with a company that offers group insurance. If the company offers group insurance, you will qualify for coverage according to their waiting period policy. None of their waiting periods should be based on prior health condition.
2. Apply for disability and Medicare. Cancer does qualify you for disability in most cases. _________________ Jim

You can check to see if there is a teaching hospital or one that might take you on a sliding scale (meaning you pay little). I doubt you will die quickly, most get disturbing symptoms long before death comes into play. Not saying to blow it off but AM saying that you probably won't die any time soon either. But please check on Medicaid or any state issued insurance that may be available. And disability from Social Security. Apply now, it takes 5 or 6 months for it to start paying. Check charity organizations as well. There are options. And it sure would ease your mind too! Keep us informed. _________________ 47 YOA female. NSCLC IV Squamous cell. dx 7/07. also, in my area there is such a thing as a free medical clinic for people with no insurance and no money. You have to wait in a numbered line(often an hour or more) but I know friends who recieve all their meds that way. Dig : and see if there are any options like that attached to your local hospital, social service, deptartment for Human services organizations, cancer groups, etc. Another hospital I know allows you to do paperwork and you can qualify for free care, including meds. Refusing to give up, and digging for an answer will get you one. Good Luck!! _________________ Kathy: still loving Ben, as he rests with God. |

| I realize this thread is not current but hope you see this. In our town is a Peoples free pharmacy, a group of voluteers that work to provide medications to those who cannot pay. Can you check into something like that within range for you? |
