Hello,

In August of 2008 my husband noticed a blood mark on the back of my shirt. I had scratched a mole under my bra line and I guess I made it bleed. My husband said that the mole did not look right and I should go to the dermo. I made an appt. and the doctor said that yes it did not look right. She took a biosy and said in 7 to 10 days she would have the results. This appt was on a Saturday and by Monday evening the doctor called to let me know that is was maligant melanoma. With this she told me that she was recommending an oncologist and surgeon and that I was to make the appts asap.

The spot was less than 1mm but the was a Clarks Level IV. I went to the surgeon and the oncologist Had the wide excision and sentintal biosy on Sept 8, 2008. The melanoma did not spread to the lymph system, so I felt really good about that.

My oncologist has been very thorough. In Oct. I had a PETScan which was all clear. I see her every other month it seems. I have been back for my three month check up with the dermo. All clear.

For my visit follow up visit in January, my oncologist ordered various blood test and an abdomial ultrasound. The ultrasound she told me had some unspecified spots and she didn't seem concerned. In reviewing my blood test she told me my LDH was high, said it could be a number of things but unspecified. She wanted me to go and have the LDH test done again, which I did. The next day her office called and told me the LDH was still high and set up a CT Scan as a precaution. I really didn't think to much about this...she didn't seem to concerned. She set the test 3 weeks out. So I figured if she was worried I would have been there the next day.

Well the test is tomorrow and I have an uneasy feeling, so I did alittle reseach and it looks as if this may not be good. In my search on the Internet, the LDH could be a number of things. I have had heart trouble, which was 3 years ago and I am on heart medication so that may affect the test.

I know that no one can really answer this and I will have the results by Monday, but how concerned should I be?

thanks

NOLAtiger, I am just wondering about how your test results came back? I am sorry that I did not post before now.

Thank you for responding. Test results were good. My oncologist told me that she will tell me when to start worrying. The high LDH could be something else such as bruising which I do quite frequently due to my heart medication. The CT scan show something on my right breast, and now I have a mammogram scheduled for next week. Again, my oncologist is not to overly concerned since she set my next appointment in June and told me to call her for the results of the mammogram!.

I just get really nervous. This is like my 3rd time escaping something really serious. The waiting is the hard part and my mind plays terrible scenerios.

Debby, I am very happy to hear this news. Yeah, I too get nervous when something changes.
