abdominal pain after LEEP....

i still have some pain from the leep procedure i had 3 days ago. id say on a scale of 1-10 my pain is about a 7-8. i was prescribed darvocet. the first dose hit hard but none after that...ugh. i read pain generally only persist for about a day after the procedure. my colposcopy with biopsys hurt longer than normal as well though. any advice?

The discomfort from a LEEP procedure is nothing like cancer pain.

I realize that pain is subjective, cancer pain is sometimes totally intractable or requires very strong medications.

Cervical dysplasia, which is what you seem to suffer from, is not cancer, it's a possible precursor but is often totally curable with proper medical care.

thats a lil offensive. i fully and totally understand that my pain isnt as bad or what ever but i was just unsure where to post it. but its pain nonetheless.

It really shouldn't be that painful that long after the procedure. Is it something that is constant or comes in waves? Dull or sharp? One side or dead center?

My best guess would to be call your gyno and check with him/her. Even if you do take longer to recover, you don't want to risk a potential infection.

Hi Kimberly.

Don't get upset. i totally understnad what you mean.

Everyone is different. My biopsies killed and I had alot of pain after for a while. The cone surgery too. i would still ring the Dr's and get advice. mine lasted for 4-5 days. But You should ring and tell them, just in case. Like rockstar said we don't want to have any more worries than possible and an infection is not what you want.

Are you having any bleeding? red fresh blood? or anything else.?

well, of course i have been keeping an eye on things and actually, I dont have any discharge except last night i discharged just the normal faint-lightish pink color. the pain has started to decrease, still about a 6-7 outta 10. i sshould be getting a call either today or friday with the results from the leep....crossing my fingers!

today i woke up in pretty gnarley pain. I got the results from my doc and would like opinions here please.
with the colposcopy my dr said my condition was CIN I-CIN II and with the leep now its CIN III/CIS. my dr seems to think she got all the abnormal cells with the leep though. im just curious to see if I had the next biopsy [cone biopsy] if it would show the cells even deeper as severe as well. i know the only real way to know is to ask my doctor, but should i really bring it up or would she really know, or should i ask to look at my med notes and papers? im so confused what to do about my fears that my doc may not have gotten all of it...

When you have a leep done, they normally check to see if there is any cells are clear (clear margin around biopsy). They normally go a little deeper if they need to, to make sure.

If straight away there is still some abnormal cells, they then book for a cone biopsy. If it is clear cells around that site, then they will wait and do more test from anywhere from a few weeks to a month, or more.

You need to ask the DR again,. what she has said, ask her many questions. Here in Australia it is hard to get your own notes, A lot of the time you have to go somewhere else and get a second op. The notes wont do you any good, unless you take them to someone else. Because even us looking at every word on the internet, will still not give us the answers we need.

From what i understand, it sounds like the Dr has done the leep, got a clear margin, and that is why she says "she thinks" she has got it all- cause they can't garentee.

Ask her again. you have to know and understand it to comprehend and feel relaxed knowing you know and understand everything....

Otherwise - WHHHOOOOO glad it looks like it is removed (we have to be positive!!!! ) this is a great moment, as she hasn't said well Kim, lets book you in for a cone etc etc etc. be happy for this moment, just this very second.

that is true, i just dont like the general idea of the wait and watch. if there is anything left, i just want it gone. cone biop or hyster. but if they arent needed i guess that saves me even more complications if/when i get pregnant...so thats good.

im calling my dr later cuz im still having abdominal pains and the pain pain med [davocet] is making me have moments where idk whats going on. my head feels hot and i get dizzy and feel like im going to faint...stuff like that. dont even know for sure if its the pain med causing it, it just really scares me. my body gets shaky and what not too. but this "panic attack or high bp or low bp" (whatevers causing it) last anywhere from 10-20 min at a time...any thoughts, im still gunna call my dr. but just wanted to hear some thoughts.

I called my doc. she said to stop taking the darvocet, because thats most likely what giving me these weird, now as i know, side effects. I'm also going into the office on wednesday the 20th to speak with my doc in reguards to understanding everything better and actually seeing the things she is seeing. so once i do that i will update here.

Good to hear!. The pain in abdormal may also be a side effect too ...? I know some tablets for pain felief can give cramping and pain in the stomach etc.

Good luck with the DR and write any questions down. Handy to have with you when you go.

so i went to see my doctor today to understand everything better and what my results specifically showed was
in the 12-3 oclock area of the cervix it was severe dysplasia/cis
in the 3-6 oclock area it was mild dysplasia
in the 6-9 oclock area again severe dysplasia/cis
in the 9-12 oclock area moderate dysplasia/cin ii
according to the doc the margins on the 3-6 and 9-12 were clear and the other two were not, but that the cells edge was basically right on the outer part were the loop durring the leep went through and that IF there were any cells left that the carterizing ball used after the procedure should have burned the cells not removed. i feel a little better but i still dont like the "unknowing" for sure if its gone. i have my actual follow up appt on june 10th and then a my first pap 3 months later i think...?! but i dont wanna wait that long its like kinda aganizing...ok not that bad, but you know! haha. anyways thanks for the support all. now i just gotta hope everythings gone and try to quit smoking asap!

something a lil off topic, being unemployed has sucked for my fiance and i both, but i finally got a job today. lame mcdonalds, but you know in a small town like mine a job is a job. no joke! so a lil stress relief there. maybe i can relax a lil more........

this may be tmi...
i did go to the doc yesterday and thats why i'd like opinions here.
according to my bc i was to start my period on the 18th. didnt show til the 20th, no biggie. my periods have always been heavy but this time it has decent sized clots in the blood as well. about the size of a nickel or bigger?! some are small, like tiny, but others are like the nickel size or biggger. my question is, is this either normal for periods? normal for periods after leep or should i bug my doc the day after i saw her? any help is appreciated. thanks.
