First of all....Shame on me!!!
I havent had a pap smear in 8 years
Heres the deal...
I got pregnant...I still thank god everyday for this baby everyday, I fully believe it saved my life. Well, I went in for a pap smear which is standard when you are pregnant. Results came back abnormal and positive HPV...Yay I am now the proud owner of a virus that will never go away and this nasty little thing might just haunt me. Well it came back that I had CIN 1. The MD told me that this was ok, and that it might have just flared up due to the pregnancy..They also said there was nothing we could do at this moment until I have the baby.....So about 3 months pass and well my water broke and I delivered the baby, whom obviously didnt make it( I was only 16 weeks). So, after all that dust settles, I go in for my Colposcopy. I got to watch it on the T.V, it was pretty interesting. Anyway, all my doc could see was a few pinpoint areas, he didnt even end up doing the biopsy. He just did another very thorough pap smear paying close attention to scraping alot of the cervical canal. He said we will just keep an eye.... Boy was I relieved!!! Well guess what happens next....Yep you guessed it...It came back severe..He told me if I was his wife he wouldnt let me go another month without surgery. He isnt quite sure at this point if it is growing that quickly or if the first pap wasnt as thorough, but he not willing to take the chance...So pre-op on the 21st, and surgery on the 2nd of June....Im having a cone Biopsy...I know this is pre-cancer, but I guess what is so scary is the HPV...It seems to be a pretty nasty, persistant little guy for some people...Girls....GO GET YOUR ANUAL PAP SMEAR!!!! Most states even offer a free yearly pap...Like I if it wasnt for my baby, my angel in real life....I dont know when I would have had my next pap! I wish I had been more educated! Now I will try to make a difference and tell as many woman as I can!!!!! Maybe word of mouth can save some lives too....BUT on the off chance that I do get cancer, or it IS cancer....Let me say this loud and clear....It will NOT be cacer that kills me...It is HPV....Something so simple that 20 minutes in the Gyn could have solved....Something sooooo simple....I am a nurse I should have known better, but I didnt....I am excited about this forum, and look foward to meeting people in similar situations...I am here if anyone would like to talk |

Your story is amazing...Very inspiring...Why do you say "continuous cervical cancer?"....My doc told me that usually the more severe the pap results are, that the more likely it is what it is...He said it is rare that it comes back cancer from the pathology after the procedure so he decided to go with a cone...Which is tomorrow...blah...I hope all goes well...I think the hardest part will be waiting for the path report. Thanks for everything!!!
The woman on this site are just incredible...Even if all goes well, I would love to continue to be here on this site...You are motivating!!!! |

You are very very welcome to be involved in this site. The more active members we have the better. Keeps things fresh and up to date in procedures. Its great for any new members we may have. And every person has a different story, procedure etc. So great for advice and support.
Good luck with the operation tomorrow. Chin up all will be great, and if by any means it's not.... then we will work it out together.

Everything went great! He said it didnt look bad at all, and he doesnt think it will come back anything but cin 111....But, anything is possible....We have no history of woman cancers in my family, I have never taken a birth control pill, I dont drink or smoke....Hopefully the odds will be in my favor! Anyway...it want bad at all...I took a 800 Motrin, thats all I needed...I have had a little spotting, but nothing to write home about!!! I will be getting the path results on the 18th! Ummm that seems like worlds away...Grrrr...I will keep everyone updated!!!!
Thanks everyone!!! |
