HI- I am new to this forum- was recommended by a dear second cousin who has also fought cancer, and lost a sister to cancer in February 2009. I was diagnoised May 2006 with CLL. Other than high white blood counts I have had no problems with it. (It was discovered accidently through a routine blood test). August 2008 started having trouble with my extreme lower back- had fallen and thought I had broken my 'tail bone'. Had thyroid treatment already scheduled so dr. put off checking back problem until after thyroid surgery in early November. Xray showed no break, so had colonoscopy in early December that showed anal cancer. Got chemo port Christmas Eve morning, (ruined my Christmas) started chemo and radiation first monday in January 2009. Finished all radiation and chemo now and first visit back to surgeon (did scope) looked good- he said all he saw was scar tissue. I thank God for that! I guess my question is, could having CLL have contributed to my getting the anal cancer? I am 51 and when I was 25 I had to have a hysterectomy because my pap smears kept coming back 'bad', and they said that meant that area was precancerous then. It seems as though I have been going through this all of my life to some degree. I still don't feel particularly well, which scares me, but my chemo and radiation doctors have told me I have done amazingly well through all this. I think the stress is finally catching up to me as I have feelings of anger and loss now. I don't like feeling that way! Any suggestions?
