Hi,
Where do I start? My husband has NSCLC was diagnosed April 1 2007.
He is on leave from work and with 3 months left with funds. He is in treatment and doing well. We are doing a trial study with chemo.
His work is covering his medical insurance til now, and has left his leave extented for how ever long he needs.
Im scared about the months to come. I work part-time with a low income but we do have a mortgage to carry. And when this temp disability runs out Im not sure what else there is. The doctors have given us no time set on his illness. Im concidering going to work full time, but I have no idea how Im going to handle that and juggle his routine. My husband also has narcolepsy and is unable to take those meds to stay awake due to treatment. So, I guess IM looking at medical bills I wont beable to pay, and losing my house.
My husband is 58. The mortgage is in his name and the deed is in both are names he had just added me on the deed before this started. Family will help with Doctor apt. but that is all his son and wife have been fighting breast cancer since Dec. with 2 children and are definately out of the picture.
Any advice before I get sucked down the rabbit hole?

Hi geovik. I am very sorry about your husband's cancer and about your financial concerns. As long as his current employer is paying is insurance and temporary disability, I do not know of anything else to help you. However, you might want to check with the Social Security Administration office closest to you; he might qualify for permanent disability and Medicare.

You and your husband are in my thoughts and prayers.
