I am sure that nearly everyone here has heard of metronomic Temodar. It seems that nearly all the newer chemotherapies are available to use metronomically; in smaller daily doses.

I have been trying to find support for metronomic PCV. Why? Because one of the theories of why TMZ is more successful in GBMs is that it is less toxic and tolerated for longer. PCV is fairly toxic and most people cannot run for six cycles without a break so that their blood counts can recover.

As I have the 1p/19q LOH and since I saw [LINK DELETED BY ADMIN -- PLEASE REVIEW FORUM POSTING POLICIES REGARDING LINKS -- THANKS!] I have been more keen on PCV as my next chemo (I ruled it out last time).

So does anyone have any information on this? I have spent a few days searching and have so far come up with nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated Smile.

I did take PCV for 6 cycles but it put me in the hospital several times due to the damage it did to my blood cells (red and platelets). If it could be given Metronomically, that would indeed be great! Of course, the danger is that instead for being nauseated 1-2 days a cycle, you could be nauseated more days.

Metronomic Temodar makes more sense because it is just one medicine whereas PCV is a three component... each with there on schedule. Metronomic PCV would indeed be complicated.

Thanks for your reply and sorry I broke the link policy, I'm new to this site Smile.

Interesting that you think that it is a good idea and that you have had PCV. I agree that while metronomic TMZ would be simplier, I'd be happy to do the math if the oncologist cannot if they agree to it. I look forward to being offered that challenge (hopefully).
