My dad was diagnosed in April of 2004. M-Spike was at 17 they told us he would not last 3 months. He received his first stell cell transplant in August 2004 and was in remission until 2007. He has under gone various treatments. Relvmid, Valcade and Thailomide (Sp?). He's currently a participant of a study.

Just last week we were informed that the plasma cell were circulating in his blood. He's very tired, has lost a lot of weight and has no appetite. He is going to go another stem cell transplant soon. But I don't know if this is the beginning of the end.

Today I went with my dad to the Doctor for information on the second stem cell. This will be the last one they do. So I pray that it works... He's lost about 50 lbs in the last 4 months. The Doctor's hope the transplant buys him at least a year of remission. He will be admitted on Thursday.

i hope that this one is as successful as the last one. My mam had a stem cell 11 months ago and we were told this week that the cancer is back. My mam is only 47 so they are thinking of doing a donor marrow transplant as the stem cell didnt seem to last her long.
