Just an update. My dad has been in a phenobarbitol induced coma (For lack of a better word) for almost a week now, and on a ventilator in an ICU. He's maxed out on three anti-seizure meds and they have given up on the phenobarbitol. So... they are going to try a new drug called lacosamide (sp?). It is new enough they didn't have the drug in the hospital and are shipping it in.

Kepra, Depikote, and phenobarbitol all at very high levels, and still seizing. I hope they can take care of them, if not the quality of life will be very low for the rest of my dad's life. At the peak he had something like 70 seizures in 6 hours, and for one hour seized basically constantly. On all these drugs he's a bit better but still seizing.

They just did a surgery to remove the part of his brain causing the seizures. They only did it because they saw no other option and his tumor has no obvious signs of regrowth yet. So... now we wait to see if this worked or not. Pretty much not much left to do if this fails. If it works he might be concsious by Sunday.

Oak, I am very sorry to hear that your father's seizures are still not under control. I cannot imagine what he and you are going through at this time. I too hope they find a quick solution. As always, I will be thinking about and praying for you and your father.
