I have finally managed to register...the maths questions were exptremly hard! And now I am feeling rather emotional about it!

Anyway,
I have an anaplastic astrocytoma. Have had countless chemo, and all have failed in producing positive results. I now have been told I have got chemo induced heart failure.
I can't have any more treatment, and I am left to just get on with things now, and wait until my day comes.

I am wondering if anyone has had any experience in all of this? I feel so alone and very scared.

I find I am getting increasingly paranoid, have got a very short temper, and I would say generally struggling to deal with all this.

Any input would be gratefully received

I'm so very sorry. All I can do is tell you to try to take advantage of what time you have. My father is unconcious and not able to withstand any chemo now, and I would give almost anything to be able to have him at least be awake.

I don't know what to say other than try to figure out what you want to do and do it. Little things. I still am kicking myself for not taking my dad to a resturant he wanted to go to, because I thought we had more time.

I do know they have said there is a limit to the treatment they can give. Is your tumor growing? Do they know what it's current status is? What Chemo did you have? HAve you talked with other doctors to see if they agree? I've talked to quite a few people who got news from one doctor that really put them down and never thought to go see a second doctor until it was almost too late... if you can, three or four opinions are a good thing. Atlhough I understand money and insurance can sometimes make that hard.

You'll be in my thoughts.

Hi Cat, I am so sorry to hear about your cancer and the chemo induced heart problems Sad. Are you a surgery candidate? How about radiation?

I did not have nearly as serious side-effects as you are having so I cannot offer any personal stories. I do know that an anaplastic astrocytoma is very close to what I have... an Olygodendroglyoma III. I do know that I too have mood swings that some time express themselves as anger, outbursts, sadness, and depression. One of the antiseizure meds I am on is supposed to help but doesn't do a very good job of it. You might want to talk with your doctor about your mood issues. Although you are in no way alone in this, there are some meds that can help you through this.... stuff Razz.

Hang in there my new friend. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
