kayamore, My husband had HIFU treatment in Nassau, The Bahamas. Dr. Scionti was his doctor. Robert Johnson was his nurse. Everything went beautifully. Dr. Scionti is confident that he HIFUed the cancer to death, but did not disturb the nerve bundles. International HIFU arranged for us to stay at The Atlantis on Paradise Island at a discounted rate, although still expensive. So we decided to have 4 days of vacation prior to the procedure. International HIFU also goes to Cancun and Puerta Vallerta, Mexico to do the HIFU procedure. I understand the cost of accommodations and food is much less in Mexico and the Cancun hospital is brand new. The staff at International HIFU is competent, caring, and wonderful. I can't say enough good things about International HIFU staff. The procedure cost $25000 out of pocket, but I have heard that Blue Cross pays 100% and Aetna pays 50%. Our insurance company does not cover HIFU, but I am going to submit the bills anyway and see what happens. We have resigned ourselves to not getting reimbursed. After all it's only money and what good is money if you are miserable. It's only been 9 days since the HIFU procedure, but so far so good. No pain just the inconvenience of a supra pubic catheter and he should be able to have the catheter removed the end of this week.
