Hi All - just had to post that my PSA has dropped from 3.9 in April to 0.5 in Aug. It goes without saying that I am ecstatic that the Lupron is working. Next shot Aug 21. My wish to you is that you will also experience the joy of having your PSA drop to safe/undetectable levels. I keep all of you in my prayers. In fact, I think I will call my church and have all those coping with PCa put on its prayer list. I hope that many of you will feel the power of those prayers.

Glad it's working for you, but everyone tells me about the horrible side effects of hot flashes and flue like symptoms, plus mood swings on Lupron. While I hear Zoladex has no side effects.

If I recall 2 men told you it was bad and one told you they have few side effects with Zoladex.
If that is accurate and we add that to G2's experience
Lupron -> 2 with significant side-effect 1 without significant side-effects
Zoladex -> 1 without serious side-effects
Could this be an individual response? _________________ History: PSA's 6.7 neg. biopsy - PSA 16.6 neg. biopsy - PSA's 8.2, 8.1, 8.7 - Biopsy. 4+4 Gleason 8. Lap RP Apr 2004, age 52 All neg margins, nodes, and structures. (T2a). Post RP PSA: every 6 mo. <.1 until Feb, 08 (46 mos) PSA .1 - I then got sensitive tests (all in 2008) showing:
Feb .06, May .09, Jun .10, Aug .10, Nov .15 -SRT |

Here's what G2 says about side-effects:
"Lupron! Hot flashes - about one an hour, some making me sweat all over, but not unbearable at all, and not interfering with sleep. Suspect early depression after the shot, but now totally gone. Also had fatigue, but that is gone as well. No real mood swings and definitely no crying. That's how it's been for me." http://cancerforums.net/viewtopic.php?t=13565&highlight=
I suspect that G2 is so happy about his current state of "my PSA has dropped from 3.9 in April to 0.5 in Aug" that he didn't mention the drugs down side on this thread. And we all know that time relieves memory of bad things.
I am talking to guys who are currently on Lupron, they are miserable.
Hey, I don't own stock, I just think I'd go for Zoladex if I needed HT. As of right this minute, HT looks a lot better than surgery or radiation....
yes, yes, not everyone can do it... |

| Maybe when my friends, who are on Lupron, get their PSA tested they will think the side effects minimal |

Hi Not Me,
Interesting post. However, I calls 'em as i sees 'em. Maybe the more severe side effects will arrive later. At the moment, I AM pleased with the results of the Lupron. Just for the record, I'll ask my uro what he thinks of Zoladex and why he chose Lupron.
I'd like to hear from some others who have received Lupron. I don't doubt that some have experienced bad side effects. But, really, for me, they just haven't been there. As I posted, probably in the HW forum, I really hadn't even "adjusted" to the fact that I had PCa! I'm a little slow realizing some things It usually sinks in much later.
So far, I've only had one Lupron shot, so it may be too soon to tell. However, the depression that I think I had is definitely gone. I am using a treadmill daily, 5 lb barbells in a light routine, volunteering with a local service to the elderly organization, keeping active, etc. In addition, I think I'm getting some control of my IBS. My attitude is multitudes more positive than previously. And tomorrow is the FIRST day of the REST OF MY LIFE.
My daughter, son, and wife surprised me with a 70th birthday party at a local park last Saturday. What a wonderful event - Gifts, a wonderful scrapbook of memories of my FIRST 70 years, cake, good food, excellent company, and a lot of love. Need I say more?
In any case, Not Me, thank you for your interest and your comments. As President Obama says, we can talk WITH each other without talking OVER each other.
Peace and good health to you.

I just want to learn, I'd like to hear from others who have had the Zoladex too.
Hopefully you won't ever "adjust" to the fact that u had PCa"!!
Keep up the exercise! That'll help! Maybe my friends who are having side effects so badly are just sitting around..?
Happy birthday...and many more...(: |

Hi Not Me,
My comment about adjusting was not meant to be flip. I am under the impression that my cancer will not be cured, just kept in check. I just suddenly realized that "Hey, I've got prostate cancer, and I can still function just as I always did!" That idea did not occur until just recently. That realization permits me to keep active, set goals, and plan for the future.
Thanks for the birthday wishes.
