The last few days I've heard a lot of news buzz regarding the use of aspirin and benefits to prevention and post-diagnosis of colorectal cancers. Please keep in mind I don't believe everything I hear or read, but found the news encouraging and would like to learn more.

Aside from the typical news links, are there any forum users that have additional information or expertise they are able to share?

Thanks so kindly in advance,
Ginger

Yes, aspirin can interfere with tumour growth. I have not seen any detailed studies on how effective that is, and I am sure that conventional chemo regimens are far, far more effective in disrupting tumour growth than aspirin. You also have to weigh the side effects of regular aspirin (which interferes with clotting) against the benefits.

There was another article on this today - I have to see my oncologist this coming Friday for a check up and plan to ask him about it. He is with VCU - the Massey Cancer center and really stays up on the latest treatments, plus is very willing to take the time to discuss my concerns.

Most of what I've read specifies Colon cancer - so I am wondering if there are results on rectal tumors.......

Cheers
