There was some discussion here about this after a gentleman posted "Pepper Cured My Prostate Cancer!!"
I still puzzle over why he stopped at two exclamation marks.
http://www.cancerforums.net/about8898.html
The writer simultaneously posted the same message on several other boards, sparking discussion there as well. There are people out there taking pepper supplement, or following a certain diet that includes habaneros.
The writer, HaydnLover, disappeared soon after making this claim of a cure, which he did back away from, reluctantly, saying it APPEARED he was cured. His basis to claim a cure? A second biopsy didn't find the Gleason 6 cancer that a first biopsy had.
As we all know, biopsies can easily miss cancer, so it's not a huge leap to assume that biopsy #2 simply missed what biopsy #1 had found, or that the difference could be chalked up to slide interpretation.
I'm just trying to recapture the essence of those postings. I'm not saying that there isn't a basis for believing hot peppers could help.
I would advise looking into the literature for updates--searching PubMed for "capsaicin and prostate" brings up some relevant material. Some articles found in PubMed are now free, by the way. _________________ Replicant
