I'm sure there are very fine treatment facilities in the Netherlands. Prostate cancer is curable if caught early.
Do you know what stage your wife's father is? And what his Gleason score is?
I like the book "Dr. Walsh's Guide to Surviving Prostate Cancer" (2007 ed) as a starting point. There might be a Dutch translation if you prefer reading in Dutch.

It's probably nothing to panic over--tell your fiancee that the disease is common in older men. It is not common to die from it, though. Only about 3% of male deaths are from prostate cancer.

There is another discussion board, with more members, and probably some people from the NL, who would know about doctors, hospitals, and treatments. It's Prostate Cancer Infolink Social Network at http://prostatecancerinfolink.ning.com

Best wishes.

There are a lot of resourses on PC available. The prostate Cancer Research Institute web sit and YANA have the best up to date information for all types of treatments. Walshs's book and Stephen Strum's "Basics of Prostate Cancer are the best books out there.
The Dutch medical system is very good and I was very impressed when I went there to be tested by Dr Barantsz at the University of Neigmegen Medical Center.
