My dad is getting radiation for his brain lesions. He will begin chemo for his lung cancer when the radiation treatment is done.
He did his 4th treatment today and seems to be really agitated. He is not usually like that at all. He is actually a very, very even tempered man. But lately he is snapping and getting really demanding.
Could it be he is feeling a loss of control and this is helping? Any insights would be appreciated.

| Yes. He takes his two tablets twice a day. For swelling of the brain. He started them nearly 2 weeks ago when they first found the brain lesions but hadn't yet done the biopsy. |

Hopefully it's the steroids and maybe some swelling of the brain, despite using them. You've heard of 'roid rage?
He also is probably feeling very vulnerable. Could be a combination of many factors -- the diagnosis, steroids, swelling, and loss of control. Please discuss this with the doctor as they need to be kept apprised of everything that goes on.
I'm sorry. I know how difficult this journey is.
God bless and hugs,

That makes perfect sense - roid rage. As soon as I read your question it made sense.
He is also losing his vision in his one good eye. He had a stroke three years ago that left him blind in one eye. The rad treatments are messing up his good eye.
Last night he said he wasn't afraid of dying. But he is afraid of going blind. |

Oh gosh --- that's heartbreaking to hear. What is the doc saying about this eye thing?
I hope others will check in on this steroid issue. My husband was never on extended steroids, but I've heard of this type of reaction from other posters.
God bless his heart. My husband was very afraid of dying. He loved life so much. Never had to deal with vision issues other than the typical blurriness that comes with chemo.
My best to you. You're such a dear.

My father and I had a very deep talk the other day about his non fear of dying. He said his greatest concern with his death is my mom. Nearly 61 years of marriage.
His greatest fear is blindness. Can't say that I blame him at all. |
