|
|
| I posted a note on September 23 regarding my brother's rising CA-19 level. My brother was hospitalized on September 27. He had a blood clot in his leg, and so they placed a "vena cava filter" in hopes of preventing the clot from traveling to his heart or lungs. Also, they did a CT scan, which revealed a "suspicious" spot or area on his liver; we now await the biopsy result. We all know what I fear, but does anyone have any experience in this situation of a biopsy showing something OTHER THAN a spread of the pancreatic cancer? I know I might be grasping at straws. Thanks. |

First of all, I wish the best outcome for your brother.
It's more common than we might think to have a "spot" on the liver that it's not cancer. In fact, my brother has one and it's a cyst made of blood vessels (I forget the medical name for it) and it's harmless.
I hope that will be the case for your brother. _________________ ~Annette |

My mum has pancreatic cancer and the initial scan showed a spot on her liver, but the Consultants thought it may be blood vessels. They said they would see if the chemo affected it in anyway. I don't know the answer yet as the scan in next week.
All the best and hope this helps. |

| I want to thank Annette and LittleMe for responding to my post. It did give me a glimmer of hope for a few days. Unfortunately, the scan and biopsy show that the cancer has spread to my brother's liver and there is no chance of a cure. I guess I thought this day would probably come, but I always held out hope that it wouldn't. Thanks again for your nice words. |
