Hubby had a shot of Eligard 6 months ago but today his doctor gave him a shot of Zilodex (3month).

Are these drugs interchangeable??

We don't pay for them, they're samples from the drug company but the doc had not ordered Hubbys' second shot of Eligard or didn't have it available. We were quite prepared to go back for a second visit but the doc said they're all the same, genericized etc.

What do you think/have you experienced?

Not sure I was convinced but it's done now!!!

Best wishes, as always,

Jean

ELIGARD® is the synthetic version of ZOLADEX®. Although not totally chemically identical, they should be interchangeable. Both are slightly different forms of gonadotropin releasing hormone.

Thanks very much Brainman, much appreciated.

Hopefully, the slight chemical difference won't affect Hubby in a negative way.

I was quietly appalled, as I'm a stickler for having the same drug.

Also want Hubby to have the 'best' and nothing but the 'best'!

As I understand it, the difference is minimal... like one is a sodium salt and one is a potassium salt. Not literally but that close. The active part is still the same. You might what to talk with his doctor or a pharmacist about the differences.
