Hi folks - My 67 year old dad has just found out that his melanoma has returned and has now metastasized on his lungs and liver. His doctor estimated he has 3 to 6 months, even though right now he looks and feels pretty healthy. We are looking at clinical trials and are impressed with what we're reading about PLX4032 and we think we can get him in to one of the trials taking place. Does anyone have any comments on the drug and the trials taking place right now?

Thanks.

This compound produced very good clinical responses in Phase I trials (ASCO meeting 2009). It's reported to selectively respond to the frequently occuring B-RafV600E mutation, so it's important to check for that. It appears to be quite safe, but for a fraction of patients drug-induced formation of squamous cell carcinoma was observed (may be manageable). Best of luck for your dad.

Thanks. This looks to be the most promising drug we've found in our research. Hope he can get in to a trial.
