Hello everyone,
My heart and prayers go out to all of you dealing with cancer and other tragedies in life and especially to those that survive their loved ones.
My father has been diagnosed with lung cancer, they have removed 2 of 3 lobes in his right lung, and we were told then that it was stage2b, now almost a month later before we have seen the oncologist we are finding out that it is stage3c and he has a short amount of time.
Devastating news but more frustrating is I can not seem to find out much about s3c lung cancer, everything i am reading sounds bad, not nothing specific to his type, I am aware that the prognosis is a educated guess based on stats, but I was hoping for more insight as to the reality of what he and our family are going to be facing.
He is 73 and had a quad bypass a few years ago, and has lupus, mentally he is OK, but it sounds like we all have a long hard road in front of us and I hope you might be able to help

Hi Keith,

Welcome to the forums and I'm sorry you have a reason to be here.

This is a big roller coaster ride, but we'll be around to support you and hopefully answer whatever questions we can. I hate it that he had lobes removed only to find it was more widespread. It happens, but it seems so cruel to me.

Sounds like they are using the new staging system with him -- being a IIIc. I'm not "up" on the finer points of staging, but I do know that when my husband was diagnosed as a Stage IV, there was some talk about a Stage IIIb, before it was clarified. I was told it didn't make a lot of difference overall when you get to those stages.

Nobody can give survival estimates as people are all so unique.

Let us know what information you'd like and we'll try to help.

Take care and God bless,
PBJ
