Hi,

Been awhile since I have posted My husband is now taking more pain medication and the right kidney is "gone" according to the physicians. We did a Scan on Wed, but will get the results next week. CEA is continuing to go higher 273 currently. He is still taking treatments of Capatsor and Avastin with the 5FU, The current problem is mouth sores, big ones on both cheeks far back in the mouth. We use several different medications but any thing you guys have used that helps.

I check and read the updates and pray for each of you to have strength to get through the days. Thanks

Hi,

I'm sorry to hear he has nasty mouth sores. Has the doc checked them for thrush? He'd need a prescription med, usually Nystatin, for that fix.

Otherwise, if they are just the chemo mouth sores, he might want to try B50 vitamins. (Clear with doc naturally.) Our chemo nurses told my husband about that and his mouth sores cleared up very quickly.

Good luck on a solution. Another little part of the roller coaster ride.

God bless,
PBJ

When my husband had mouth sores with chemo, he was given Duke's Magic Mouthwash. Made him feel so much better. I think you might need a prescription but you can probably just call and not have to go in.
Good luck,
Lucinda

I am sorry to hear he is suffering from this, I haven't had that reaction...yet.... but hear that gargling with a salt and soda mouthwash helps and also making a very potent chamomile tea by placing 2 tea bags in a small amount of water. Steep for 10 minutes covered. Then swish and swallow. Repeat a few times daily.

Three people told me about ecciac tea before I finally tired it, and then I wished I had tried it when the first person advised me to look into it. First the U.S. Cellular guy brought it up, then a lady from my church, and finally a friend whose son had an inoperable brain tumor like the one my son had. This friend sent a fruit jar of it home with my husband in a brown paper bag. I still waited two days before I tried it. My lips were almost turned inside out from inflammation and swelling. My tongue was raw for about two inches, from the tip of my tongue to the center of it, and I had sores as far back as my throat. All I can tell you is when I ate or drank anything, I felt like I was eating or drinking broken glass.

The directions for the tea where one ounce in two ounces of lukewarm water as needed, at least once a day. When I finally broke down and tried it, I had dramatic relief from my symptoms and in twelve hours, I could eat and drink again. The mouth sores have never gotten out of hand again and this was at least a couple of months ago. I use it daily.

You will do research on line and find out that some believe ecciac tea is a cure of cancer. I am not going to say it is a cure for cancer. I am going to say it dramatically improves some of the symptoms from chemo treatment, including nausea. (I wish it also helped the watery stools. It does not.) But even the fact that it improves the sores and nausea, both are major milestones. You can order it on line, and get it at some health food stores. It takes 24 hours to cook up a batch, and you have to keep it in the refrigerator in a brown paper bag, but I believe if you try it, you will find relief from this.

It contains Burdock Root, Sheep Sorrel, Slippery Elm, and Rhubarb Root. They are all things found in nature, and have been part of the medicines practiced by early Native American Indians.

My friend, Cindy, her son had undergone treatment for a brain tumor for three years with little or not effect. Health care professionals were ready to put in a feeding tube when Cindy tried the ecciac tea. Her son showed an immediate improvement to the treatments, and in June, was finally taken off chemo for the first time in three years, because he had improved so dramatically.

I don't think it's a replacement for standard cancer treatment, but I think it helps a person's quality of life during cancer treatment.

Good luck.
