Hello from Serbia.
First of all sorry for my english. I'm sure I'll have some grammar issues but I hope you'll understand.
My uncle has a rectal cancer which has spread on his liver and testicals. He had a surgery but the cancer kept coming back.
I watched a tv show which mentions Avastin as a medicine which helps in treatment this type of cancer. my question is: could that medicine help my uncle even though it has spread on liver and testicals? |

HI Sorry to hear what your uncle is going through, AVistin is a very good chemo, it attacks the cancer cells and leaves good cells alone, it is a hard journey and every one is different, and hopefully your uncle is a positive person as that is half the battle if you can fight it and not give up.

I also am sorry to hear what your uncle is going through, my thoughts and prayers are with him, you and your family.
Yes Avastin can help when the cancer has spread, I have colon cancer that has spread to my liver and lungs and one of the drugs I take with my chemotherapy is Avastin.
Avastin is a cancer medicine that interferes with the growth of cancer cells by blocking the formation and growth of new blood vessels in the tumor which slows their growth.
Avastin is used to treat a certain type of brain tumor as well as cancers of the kidney, colon, rectum, lung, or breast. It is usually given as part of a combination of cancer medicines.

Also what I forgot to mention was this thing he tried.
he read in some book which helps you cure by using natural things and similar stuff. So he found a way to beat his cancer by not eating anything for 42 days. he could drink some water, I don't know exactly how much per day but it wasn't a lot. No one thought he would survive that because he was already very weak but he got through it and even felt better but when the results came back, they told him that the cancer became even bigger...
I think that was the time he lost hope for ever getting better...
The doctors told him that he only had a year top, but it'll be 3 years in January since that.
I just haven't seen anyone so eager to live. He is young. Only 33 years old.
And can't describe how much would I want to see him get well... |

I was on Avastin on my first fight with cancer. It is a good one. There is also a new one out I have had great luck with called Erbitux.
What kind of treatment centers do they have there?

11-25-09 Finish FOLFIRI - Jan 2011 Finish ERBITUX?

| always sad to hear of someone else under attack by this monster. avastin works for some people, however i went from a clean cat scan to an inoperable tumor while taking avastin as maintance treatment. after finishing the regular folfox plus avastin regimen. six weeks of biweekly erbitux alternating with 5fu portable pump and tumor was reduced by 30% and. opened up and rf ablation finished the job.best wishes b.henderson |
