I just got my report and of course my doctor is out until Monday so I have to freak all weekend. Please let me know if you've see the verbaige below and what it means.
Mild to moderate uptake in left ovarian mass. Also mild uptake above background in left para aortic lymph node.
I think this means I likely have cancer in the ovary and lymph node but not sure.
Thanks! Susanne[/b] |

Hi Susanne,
What was the general impression of the radiologist at the bottom of the report?
Did the report give any SUV numbers?
It can show uptake as a result of inflammation or from cancer. Hard to say and we're not doctors.
I'm sorry that you are sitting on this info without a doc to talk to you now. I always feel this is the worst time for anyone -- waiting for results.
What has been going on with you that has led the doc to order a PET scan?
Take it easy and breathe deep.
God bless,

Hi again,
That's a pretty low SUV uptake number. I don't know how high they run in ovarian cancer situations, but from what my husband went through with lung cancer, that's a low number.
I hope it's a good sign for you. Only one more day to go. Keep breathing deep and try to be occupied with something else. I know, I know -- easy to say and so very hard to do.
God bless and hugs,

Thank you for the kind words. I actually spoke to my oncologist friend who is also my acting hematologist for my blood clotting disorder. He said, if he had to guess, it is either an inflammatory situation affecting my ovary and lymph node, or early stage cancer that involves the lymph.
I'll update as soon as I see the oncologist this week.

You've got the right attitude and let's hope the news is good tomorrow.
