Blood lines

Hi there Im new to the forum, I have a question one of my uncles passed away from cancer. he was a bad smoker his daughter had a cancer when she was very young (teenager). I was little when she passed away.
is it true cancer spreads through family like blood relations and blood lines? I have heard some say it is. but not sure if its just a gossip or not.

Hi,

Some types of cancer have a genetic predisposition. Many times external factors, such as lifestyle, environmental pollutants, and smoking will enhance the odds of cancer being triggered. You would have to know the specific cancer to research whether heredity is considered a risk. An example is ovarian cancer. My mother died from that and my risk was increased because of it.

Do you know what cancers these relatives had?

Im not sure the names or specific detail about the cancer. My uncles daughter died before my uncle. she had a knee injury but her parents were careless about it and it became a cancer thats what they say.
My uncle prolly had a throat cancer or some thing like that. Im sure its because of smoking.
