I am a 36 year old male, 5'6" and weigh 115lbs. i have been smoking for 22 years and was told that during a neck ct scan, they found nodules in my lungs. I have always worked in industries that required chest xrays and in march of 08 they were clear. but in april of 2009 the er doctor noticed the nodules. i just found out about them this month and already have a follow up chest ct scan. What is the possibilities that they are harmless. And in worse case scenario (lung cancer) how will my life be affected.? Will i still be able to work or is it realy as bad as everyone says it is.? I am not scared of dying but the thought of my kids without me scares the crap out of me. If anyone could help please give me information.

Hi,

Welcome to the forums and I sincerely hope you don't find a reason to hang out with us in the future.

Did the doctor say whether the nodules are calcified or non-calcified? (Calcified is good.) If he's proposing a follow up CT scan already, they probably are not calcified. Why the delay in finding out about these? How many were found and what size?

Many people have lung nodules that are watched with routine scans for any growth. That's a tough situation to sit through not knowing if it's something that will end up being cancer or just some random nodules. I'm sorry because that isn't always clear cut in the case of nodules.

God bless,
PBJ
