We are very concerned. Mom was diagnosed last July with stage 3 b lung cancer. Radiation and surgery were not options. She had 6 treatments of carboplatin/taxel and did well, This past april, scan showed cancer is active again and has spread to the brain.. She did 15 plus 4 rounds of radiation. The 4 due to a larger sized tumor in brain. She is now getting chemo of Navelbine, once a week.. Since this time she has gone completeley down hll, She can not even get to the bathroom without assistance.. Tomorrow we will be seeing her oncologist. I hope to getg answers, I can find no information why she is so utterly fatiqued . Mom is so wonderfu, but its very hard to ask Dr. in front ofher, so we need to be prepared, etc.

Hello,

I am a "cancer rookie" since my mom was just diagnosed with the same thing 2 weeks ago and is also dealing with terrible side effects of chemo.

We as a family try to be very open (so far) and are "pooling" questions for the doctor. I also find the internet (reputable sites) to be of great help. I am researching drugs to boost her energy, if I find anything I will post.

Hang in there,

Ago

She needs a hobby that gets her excited and out of the house. Anything is better then nothing. I took a single class at my local community college that got me out twice a week from 7 to 10 pm. It was just a mindless golf class but I had to study on the days off and it kept my mind and body busy. Oddly enough I wasn?t the only person there taking classes just to stay busy doing something. There were six old ladies in the class and they brought hot chocolate and cookies and other goodies to class that made it so fun I could hardly wait for the next class.

Food is very important. Be creative and go out to eat as much as possible. Try going to a different buffet every day of the week. Seafood, Italian, Greek, and pile up on the soup and pasta. Scarf and barf, that?s my motto,.

Barf and run, life is fun...
