Hello all;

I've got this posted on another forum but I would like to get as much input as possible.

Cathy came through chemo with flying colours and will have a PICC line installed for the next one. Her veins are small and it will make everything go faster.

Before this adventure, we had been invited to visit her sister and her husband in Marsh Harbour, Bahamas, in February 2005. They are graciously paying for the trip with airmiles and we would be staying on their boat.

Are we nuts?

The chemo nurse said "go for it!" but I don;t think we explained it would be on a boat and not at a major resort.

At the time Cathy will be between chemo #4 and #5.

Any thoughts?

Blessings,
Pastor Rich

Hi Pastor Rich. although I am not familiar with the risks you wife might encounter, I think you should "go for it" too. If Carol's medical teams thinks it is OK, go and enjoy the time in the sun. Have a great Thanksgiving. Hugs to you both, Lauri

Hi Pastor Rich,

The only thing I would be concerned about is flying, especially this year with many folks not being able to get their flu shots. There are lots of germs passed at the airport (large crowds and germs also passed on the plane). For this reason, I did not fly until a couple months after chemo. Maybe wearing a mask would help with this?

Anyway, it does sound like a blast! I would have been very tempted!

Good luck,

Margie

Hi Pastor Rich,
I'm glad she did so well with her 1st chemo. My concerns would be, alot of people and catching the flu or something as has been said. The other is, some people feel the same through all their chemo treatments, some the 1st one is the worst and others, like me, each treatment got harder and harder. With my 1st one, I felt real tired for a couple of days and then felt great, but each one had more bad days. Fatigue is a given with chemo. If there is anyway to make a final decision after she's had her 3 round, or even 2 round, I'll play it by ear and see hows she's feeing. That's the "gone through chemo" version.. lol
IF the onco says go for it then go for it. I'm just concerned about how she might feel the more chemo she gets. Hopefully she'll be one of the lucky ones and it not be bad the entire time.
Nancy
