| My aunt was recently diagnosed with metastatic lung cancer that has gone to the brain. She has 3 lesions in the brain and 1 in her lung. I am looking for pronosis information as well as treatment options. Any help would be much appreciated. |

Hello
In general radiation may help, but unfortunately prognosis is quite poor. Numbers are not possible to mention, but generally people live less than a year with brain metastases from lung cancer.
best regards,

Dear Leo,
Thank you for the information regarding my Aunt's metastatic lung cancer. Today we found out that she is back in the hospital with weakness on her whole left side of her body as well as with low potassium levels. She has had trouble with seizures and her last one was on Thanksgiving and has not gained the strenght back in her left side. Is it a possibility that even with radiation treatments to her brain that the tumors are continuing to grow and have not been stopped? I don't think that she is telling us the full story as she doesn't want us to worry. What are we looking towards in the future as far as her overrall health and problems that may occur. Thanks again. |

Hello
It is very possible that the brain lesions are progressing. Radiation may not stop them from growing, it is only a temporizing measure. It is hard to predict what might happen, but she may get all sorts of complications, especially now that she is physically impaired.
regards,

My husband was diagnosed with metastatice brain cancer from the lung in Sept.
We went through brain surgery and then was told he would die in 4 months without treatment and in 1 year if we had treatment.
We went to Tulsa, OK to CTCA and now the cancer is almost gone or in remission. Please Please go to there web sight. www.ctca.com and they will answer your questions and give you much hope.
