| My grandmother has lung cancer. A port was inserted by her left shoulder for the addministration of medications and such. The port has since been removed but my grandma is still haveing pain from the location. Is it possible that scar tissue built up and is causeing the pain? Is this a normal after effect from having a port? Any help would be appreiciated! |

Donovan,
I don't know if this will help your situation, but I had a port removed in November 2005, and I still have some pain at the site. It usually is quite tolerable, but on occasion can experience a sharp pain. I do not know if this is normal or how long after removal this can be expected. I had a lumpectomy twice on right breast back in April 2005, and have a lot of pain at the surgical site to this day. Hope your grandma is doing well otherwise.
God bless and be well,

| Thank you Jill, when the pain is sharp (as my grandmothers seemingly always is) what do you do for the pain? She refuses to take the morphine the doctor has perscribed to her (she went through a withdrawl once and swears she will never take another morphine pill). She does take aleve however and that does seem to help her somewhat. Is there anything OTC that you would recomend? Thanks again! |
