My mother had very pain in her chest & back two months ago. She had X-ray, CAT scan, PET scan, and biopsy. The doctor has confirmed with my mother that she has NSLC stage 4. The only treatment is chemo. He also talked about clinical trial. I don't know that it's ok to try this? Any advantage and disadvantage? Do you know any nutrient, food, vegetable or fruit that are good for lung cancer people? Thanks

Clinical trials are an option to consider, and as you point out will have pros and cons. A lot depends on your mother and how she feels about being on a trial. Some people don't like the idea of being "experimented" on and would rather be on something already tested. Versus others want the newest treatment on the horizon, which clinical trials provide. There is no guarantee that it will be better than the standard treatment, but it could be the next standard as well.
In general all trials fall into one of three phases, I, II & III. Phase I is a new drug that needs to be tested for safety in humans. Phase II is to test for activity against certain types of cancer. PHase III is to determine how good the effect is often compared to the current standard therapy. Most people start at Phase III and work back.
Clinical trials are worth consideration and the majority are run through major academic centers. It is at least worth consideration. For more information look at the NCI clinical trials website.
