Please forgive me if I shouldn't post here because I have not been dx with anything as of yet. I am just extremely scared right now and don't know where to turn to. I have had swollen lymph nodes since approx 1 - 2 weeks before christmas (atleast that's when I noticed them) They have not gone down in size... infact they have just gotten bigger. They themselves don't hurt, but the pressure of them causes me pain and numbness. I have had night sweats on and off for about two months now... never had those before. Part of my hand had been numb for two full weeks now and horrible headaches. About three days ago I noticed that my skin hurts... it feels like there are bruises in certain spots, but there are none and I don't remember hurting myself. They hurt to even touch a little. I had blood work done and my CBC was fine, so the dr just ref'd me to an Endocrinologist. My appt. w/ him isn't until the 21st and I am scared.

Hi Ray29,

I cant help much because i am in same sort of situation as you, but Burt gave me lots of help and said the main thing is to remain positive. I hope everything goes well for you and make sure you follow all tests and doctors till you find out what it is. I hope it all comes back fine. Good luck

Jess

Jess,

Thank you for your reply. You said that you are going through the same thing right now; If you don't mind me asking... what steps have you taken to find out what is wrong? I have had quite a few issues over the past few months and feel a bit crazy right now. I just know my body, and something is just not right, ya know?

You are the expert on your own body. So, when you do see the endocrynologist, make sure you tell him/her about all of your symptoms. He/She is the expert on putting those together to tell you what is next... probably more tests including a biopsy. But the can be so many other things other than cancer. So do remain possitive.

Jim,

Thank you for your kind words. I am doing my best to not over react I am just scared. I guess the scariest part was when I ask my G.P Dr. what kind of dr I was being referred to she told me it was and oncologist... that kind of scared me a bit so I looked it up on line to verify what type of dr. it was and to my relief she had just mis-spoke herself. I was sent to the endocrynologist because she wants me to have a biopsy on my Thyroid again, I have had a nodule that is about two inches long by about and inch wide on my right lobe for about 6 years now and she was concerned about that. I had a biopsy on it about 5 years ago and it came back normal, but my levels are irregular again, so she wants to check it. A lot of my concern was that my lymph nodes had been swollen for about a month and then I developed a circle type rash on the back of my neck and I have never had a rash before in my life... it was VERY odd looking, plus those night sweats have just been so bad. I have had Thyroid problems in the past & I know how my body acts, ya know? It just doesnt feel like that. I am probably just over reacting but I know this waiting process kills. When I was 18 I had cervical cancer and for five years after that ever six months I had to get a physical and it killed me each and every time, just waiting to see what my tests would show. After having clean results my dr let me go back to once a year again, but it still drives me crazy waiting.
