My mother had her bone scan yesterday, and they said 1-2 for the results, but instead they called this afternoon to have her come in tomorrow for an appt to speak to the doctor? If the scan went ok, would they still make an appointment to discuss the results?

I hope this is normal, because they were arranging surgery to remove the cancer, but I don't know.

Anyone, please let me know if this is normal, and I wonder why they could not have the results over the phone?

I'm hoping and praying that all goes well for your mom, but I do think that with cancer the best thing is to always be prepared for the worst and pray and hope for the best. I would say that the doctor plans to discuss treatment options with her, so tell her to take pen and paper and write down what the doctor tells her. I have found that later, it is hard to remember everything and having it written down helps a tremendous amount. Also, she needs to write down questions to ask the doctor. Remember that with the medical field you have to be "pro-active" in your health and don't be afraid to ask questions. I work in the medical field and I know how intimidating it can be. I'm intimidated with my dad's illness and the possibility of having to insert a feeding tube, and I deal with health issues in my job, so don't be afraid to be an active participant in your mom's illness. Best of luck and good wishes are with you.
