Hi all,

approx 4 weeks ago my husband, 43 and never gets sick, was feeling very tired, has headaches that feel like a hockey helmet that is too tight, breaks out in sweats with very little exhersion, has a real feeling of shortness of breath, like he isn't getting enough air. After a week of this he finally went to the Dr. she did blood work and his white count was normal but he has immature bands in his blood, his hemoglobin was off as she put it. He also has a full feeling in the spleen area.

He has been refered to an oncologist which is in another week and a half, for suspected CLL.

A CT was done on his head (normal), a chest x-ray (normal), a heart monitor for 24 hours normal.

The oncologist ordered a blood marker test as well as a test to see if any organ involvement is present. these test are LDH levels and Lymphosite Markers.

I am worried because they are not doing any other tests to see if maybe it is something else. Can anyone give me some insight on this. such as are these other tests only done to confirm leukemia or other diseases as well.

My husband also has CLL, he has had it for over 10 years now and it has never progressed from Stage 0. It is frightening to hear at first but it is the slowest cancer, for my husband it is just a chronic condition. There are a lot of immature white blood cells in his body, probably giving him that full feeling in his spleen. For my husband. he has painful lymph nodes which are enlarged. He eats an extremely healthy diet, lots of brown rice, and actually went on a macrobiotic diet for a couple of years, he is now off that but still eats quite healthy. his white blood count is now normal, just his platelets and hgb are low but only a little.
Just have him eat well and exercise and try to stay calm.
