I am 24 years old and have been having problems with my periods for a little over a year. The last few months I have pretty much been bleeding constantly to the point that I am anemic. The Gyn did a endometrial biopsy and it came back as complex hyperplasia with no atypia so far. Because the sample size is very small the doc wants to so a D&C to check further for signs of atypia or cancer. I have never had a D&C and dont know anyone who has. How long is the recovery period? Pain? How long till you were able to work? Thanks for any advice that you can offer.

My D&C was on a Friday with general anesthesia in an outpatient surgery center. I was in and out in 3 hours which included the recovery room wake up. There was no real pain involved. It just felt like a period with mild cramping afterward and some bleeding. I was up and around immediately, but the doctor recommended rest until Monday with no strenuous activity. I hope that helps!
