Can brain tumor symptoms stop and start again later? What is this ?

My 3 year old son's doctor has recently ordered a ct head scan to rule out a brain tumor. He had been vomiting for 11 days skipping a couple days in between. The doctor said he wanted the scan to rule out a tumor before doing a more involved procedure that involves sticking a camera down his stomach to see his intestines. My son has not vomited in 3 days now and seems to be back to his old self. The only other symptom was being lathargic which is to be expected when he was vomiting twice a day. We were thinking of not having the ct scan done as his symptoms have ceased. My question is this: If he were to have a brain tumor, is it normal to have periods with symptoms (vomiting) and then no symptoms?
