New to site, struggling with treatment options

Hello, I was diagnosed with Prostate CA two weeks ago. I am a T1c with gleason score of 7. My Urologist is recommending a Radical Prostatectomy and I am scheduled to have surgery on May 23. My Uncle is 80 years old, lives in Atlanta, GA and swears by the treatment that he has received from RCOG (Radiotherapy Clinics of Georgia). They use a treatment called ProstRcision (Their name for seed inplant and radiation). Does anyone have feedback or information about RCOG? The more I read about my options the more confused I get... I am fearful of incontinence.

Biopsy readings are subjective: I'd be obtaining a 2nd reading of my slides if you havn't already done so.

Several treatment options can often offer similar long term results, so the choice comes down to your view on potential side effects.

Main thing is to choose a top doctor, regardless of which treatment you select. To have the best doctor available on your team will put things in your favour for a good outcome.

In general, radiation versus surgery is about equal in long term outcomes. If you are relatively young and healthy, this option of treatment is better than just monitoring. Consider the side effects of each and then make your decision this. Good luck.

You didn't say your age. That is very important for treatment options. Under 65 I do not believe the seeds or radiation is appropiate. The long term problems associated with these problems are real. Check out the problems 5 to 10 years later.

I traveled to NY to see Dr Tewari last July 2006. Contient from the day the catheter was removed 6 days after surgery. 52 years PSA 4.0 Gleason 6.
