Leo,
I am 23 years old and was diagnosed with lymphoma when I was 17. I went into remission after 6 months of treatment, only to be rediagnosed 1 year after my original diagnosis date. My oncologist did a very grueling routine of chemotherapy which landed me numerous hospital stays and transfusions the 2nd go round. After all of the chemo came radiation. I have been in remission once again for 4.5 years. I have now continued my life, but am faced with "chemo brain". My short-term memory is shot, along with some long-term. Somedays are better than others, but I need help. My oncologist says I should get better, but it seems I am only getting worse after 4 years. It doesn't just mess with your memory, it also deals with my confidence. My regular doctor is wonderful and we have been trying to figure out a way to maintain, rebuild, or lessen my memory loss. I know there have been a lot of new studies on this subject, but most of them are just studies, no answers. Do you or anyone else have any input on this subject? [/quote]

Dear KayeKaye

Thanks for joining our community. Chemo Brain is an unfortunate condition that we have no real way to "treat" other than rehab, supportive care. We are learning about this condition and I hope we will be able to have a better option for patients affected by this.

Please feel free to post and talk to our other users.

best regards,
Leo

I know how you are feeling. I have been off treatment for about 11 years now and I have alot of trouble remembering things and it has gotten really bad in the past few years. It makes me feel really stupid but my short term memory is horrible.
