|

I saw the article on beta-lapacho as well. There's also quite a bit of research on it on NCI's PubMed website, too. For those that may not know, this therapy is also called "Pau d Arco" or "Taheebo" -- although the drug used is a more potent extract of the bark than the tea that is usually brewed.
What is also interesting is that many "reputable" sources have discredited "Pau d Arco" as a cancer therapy for years. As is obvious from this example: without full-scale scientific testing of these "alternative" substances, we will never get the whole story, and potentially miss out on effective treatments. So, I say to Quackwatch, and the others who scoffed at Pau d Arco's effectiveness over the years: "HA!"
This revelation should be a sign that there must be other effective therapies out there in some of those purported "bogus" teas and tinctures. I only hope that science gets around to them soon! Untill then, it's up to us to keep an eye out for the research that backs up the claims, and study-up before we leap at an alternative therapy.
Keep hope alive! _________________ Chris
