Hello. My sister in laws sister has been diagnosed with cancer. She lives in Croatia and am not even sure they know which kind. They told her that it is not operable probably now 2 years ago. Now they are saying they want to operate (I'm thinking they have no idea what's going on). My question is does anyone know of any hospitals that would be willing to help someone in this situation. I would be able to pay for her to come over and stay with me but I can definitely not help with cancer treatements (financially that is not possible for me). Does anyone know of any place that would help.
Thank you.. Sad

Cestarmm, I wish I knew where your sister could receive free treatment. I know that from time to time I have heard of hospitals and/or doctors bringing patients to the USA for free treatments, but most of them were children and I have not clue even where to begin to search for assistance. You might what to begin your own website of blog about your sister telling her story. Then try to contact major medical centers asking for their help. You could also contact international benevolent organizations and ask them if they can help. Doctor's Without Boarders is one such organization. While they might not be able to help directly, they might have information that will help you location someone who can and is willing to help. But most important of all is to write her story so that people you approach can identify with your sister's troubles and are willing to help. What makes her case different from the other thousands of cases? That is the question you will need to answer before approaching anyone.

Good luck.

Hi cisterarmm,

Welcome to the forum. I am sorry to hear what your sister is going through. There is a program called Hill Burton here, which will allow foreigners to get free or reduced treatment at designated facilities, BUT there is a 3 month approval wait for non-US citizens. I have enclosed a link, it is worth looking into, and if it sounds feasible, the sooner the paper work gets started the better. I pray and hope this will somehow assist her.

God Bless,

Rhonda
