Dear Ksplat,
Both gamma knife and cyberknife are not available in Australia ( I m a graduate of Melbourne Uni). And brainman is right in that gamma knife is limited to small tumours. Cyberknife does not have that limitation as the radiation can be fractionated (multiple sessions). The nearest cyberknife facility would be Hong Kong. The question will be - is your brother fit to travel?
I m interested in Brian's suggestion. Dr Banerji uses homeopathy which is worth a try. Homeopathy is becoming popular and is being accepted by the medical community. Go ahead with this option. His website is http://www.drpbanerji.com/index.htm
Another famous homeopathy doctor is Dr Shah. His website is http://askdrshah.com/.
I have had considerable experience with Chinese traditional medicine called tian xian. If you go on the net, you get many sites selling them. What I have done is to send patients directly to China to be treated by Prof Wang Zhen Guo where he combines western and chinese chemotherapy together. He has 3 large hospitals specialising in cancer only - Zhuhai, Shanghai and Beijing. The cost is about USD4-6K a month for about 6 months.
With these options, I hope you can make better decision for your brother.
Thanks.

Hello to all

I have just returned from seeing my brother - Mark. Apparently, the 2 days following surgery last Tues were pretty bad & the surgeon thought there may have been a bleed in the brain after surgery. When I arrived Fri he was sitting up in a chair & pretty bright & in good spirits. I was so happy!

I was able to meet Mark's neurosurgeon & asked him a couple of questions about radiotherapy. The stereo-tactic radiation would not be suitable for Mark's lesion & if he chose to travel to Singapore he would be able to undergo gamma/cyber knife radiation....at great expense to Mark. Dr said you would have to mortgage your home as it's expensive & would take 6mths of treatment. Dr believes the cost outweigh's the benefit & he mentioned a few of his past patients who had gone down this track with no great result. Dr is also reluctant to try general radiation as Mark reacted badly to it in the earlier part of this year & the tumour grew rapidly whilst he was undergoing radiation. Dr will put him back on Temodal.

Mark asked Dr is it possible to continue debulking surgery when tumour recurs? Dr told Mark that Mark would get sick of it before surgeon did! Mark is starting rehab again today & has been having daily physio since last Thur. He's keen to get out of hospital (after 2 month stay after last surgery). We joked & laughed & I spent a lovely 3 days with him. So glad my Husband & kids are flexible this way so that I can get away to the GC on the weekends.

Mark & Kath are planning a holiday, I'm a little scared that they're talking next year & not now! It looks like they will go to Hawaii instead of Mexico. Mexico is just too far. Only 8 - 9 hrs to Hawaii.

Also looking further into the treatment by Dr Baherji in India. As long as Mark can continue chemo whilst taking homeopathic treatments? Does anyone have any insight on this subject.

Cheers & best wishes to all. Angie.

Angie, I don't know what to say except that Mark has a very strong family and a very good attitude. I am glad you are getting to visit with him as often as you can. I know it means that you too have the support from your family.

God bless you and Mark.
