Hi Lee - I was dx Jan 03 with invasive ductal cancer, with associated nuclear intermediate grade DCIS. I had a lumpectomy Feb 03 and 8 sample nodes dissected. 2 were cancerous, so I had total axillary clearance March 03, 1 more cancerous, so 3/18. The tumour was 2 cm, ER+, don't know about PR and HER2 as they didn't test. I had some complications after both surgeries, probably because I was taking methotrexate for Crohn's. I had infections in the wounds, and a bad seroma in my back caused by the "brutal" surgery as my surgeon put it, to get at all the lymph nodes. I then had 6x FEC chemo, and 25 rads, with 2 boosters. Mammo in March 04 showed no recurrence thankfully.
I am doing absolutely fine now - hair thick and curly, although I have lost about 14 lbs as I have a poor appetite. Hope this answers your question.

Liz,
Why do you think you have a loss of appetite. Is it one of the meds you are on? Is weight an issue or are you alright having lost that much? I lost 12 pounds during the beginning of my chemo but on the Taxol I could not get enough to eat. That and the Decadron did not help. Is your Dr. alright with your weight loss?
Sorry that you had so much trouble after your surgery. Sounds like that was alot of added stress. Thanks for sharing your story.
