I think it will be most helpful if I outline some of the things that are fundamentally set. From this basic ideas we can go in many different directions. But here is the fundamental concept for the new site/forum.

1. The new Cancer Forums will incorporate elements of a website and elements of a forum. It is possible that the forum will come first.

2. The forum part will not be built using a phpBB platform. That is computer talk but it means we will use a different, more flexible, program to design the actual forum. The program we are looking at is called vbulletins.

3. The new website/forum will retain its current website name (cancerforums.net).

4. The new website/forum will include all of the information from the present forum keeping usernames, passwords, posts, statistics, and other information so that we do not need to start from scratch.

From these two starting points we can create a much better Cancer Forums site.

I have already made some suggestions and passed on some of your suggestions to leo and will post each of them and leo's reply as new topics in the near future.

Hello,

When I joined this forum I already saw it was still running phpBB2, which is an outdated legacy software. I would suggest you to upgrade as soon as possible, as phpBB2 leaves quite a few security holes.

I myself prefer phpBB3, even over vBulletin, as it gives you to customize it more. And with the correct Modifications you can create a more optimized forum than with vBulletin.
