Hi Dianne,

How are things with your daughter? and you? how are you holding up? I so can not wait until my appointment with my family doctor to see what's going on, I feel like I am being shoved around Confused , but I guess there is not only me that needs help Sad . Sometimes it feels like I get no help, I shouldn't be saying that, just feel like it at times. Sorry for that comment Embarassed If I knew it would be worth going to another place for help I would try to go. Scared to go somewhere and have it the same way. I will wait for a little longer, so many people say things happen for a reason. SNAP!! I want know the reason, I don't know how much longer my nerves can take this, I am such a different person now. Thank God my hubby loves me just the same, he is my heart and soul. So different from before, I am thinking maybe this is the reason, to bring my hubby and I closer together. He wants to renew our vows, made my heart melt when his bosses wife told me that the other night. My hubby use to run away every time I wanted to talk about my tumor, he would always come up with some sort of an excuse, gas the truck, his buddy needed a helping hand with something or another...list goes on..ha-ha. Now he is the model hubby....
Dianne I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for thinking of me. I will have you and your daughter in my thoughts and prayers, keep me posted as to how she is doing and I wish you all the best for the holidays and the upcoming new year.... xx

Hi Tammy,

My daughter's tumor was in her right frontal lobe as well. Here are the functions and differences in the frontal lobes:

The frontal lobes are involved in motor function, problem solving, spontaneity, memory, language, initiation, judgement, impulse control, and social and sexual behavior.

The left frontal lobe is involved in controlling language related movement, whereas the right frontal lobe plays a role in non-verbal abilities.

In Lindsay's case, they didn't try to remove the tumor from the brain, they actually removed the portion of brain that the tumor had infiltrated. You can imagine how scary this was for a 23 yr. old but the doctor reassured her that other parts of the brain had already taken over the function of that portion. When she came out of surgery her first words were, "I can still think!" and is totally her normal self. Her tumor size was 4.9mm x 3.3mm x 3.1mm.

I hope you get some answers soon. It's hard enough waiting as the parents...I can't imagine being the patient. Will keep you in prayer! It works because we had MANY miracles in this process.

Take care!
Dianne

Hey Tam! Very Happy

Always nice to see your posts, though I'm sorry to hear of your recent frustrations . . . . that must be such a challenge to get the mixed reviews like that! Confused

I must say, I love the quote you found and stole it for my blog the other day . . . hope you don't mind Smile

I wish I had answers for you my friend. Hopefully a new MRI and some answers will come your way soon. Do you have a neuro oncologist out there? Apparently there are only 9 in Canada - we are seeing the one in BC - he doesn't have the best bedside manner by any means, but at least he specializes in brain tumours. It's nice to hear that your hubby is really supportive now and wants to renew your vows - that's really sweet! I want to renew our vows on our 10yr anniversary, which will be in 2010 (though we're coming up on the 13th anniversary of when we met, New Years Eve!).

We are covered in snow here on the west coast - and more than our usual 'one day of snow', it's been around all week with more to come! You must be sending it our way Very Happy . I don't mind it as long as I don't have to drive in it much. We'll be heading to Richmond for treatment for Elias at the naturopath tomorrow though, so I guess I'll have to brave it. . . .

Well, I should run as I hear a crying baby Crying or Very sad , but I'll have to update our story one of these days . . . . it's been a while. Take care my dear, you are in my thoughts always.

Hey everyone,
It's been some time since my last post. Was thinking about you all and read a few of your updates, my heart goes out to so many of you...so I figured I should give you a little update on me! Well had another mri this pass Monday as all my medical team can not agree to a growth or if its vascular. Confused I have been trying my best to be at ease with everything and started strongly on my scrap booking to keep my mind occupied as I wait for all my results and for the doctors to agree to as we are going to do. Sometimes I feel like it's not to important as to what I have but I try to keep in mind that it's not only me who is in a struggle with the "nasty". My scrap booking seems to help keep me sane ha ha...beware I say I may explode ha ha.joking Laughing . I guess I don't have to much to tell you all, only thing is I been having a few mri's and this pass one I was put almost asleep, my mom had to walk me out,,looked like I was drinking, the radiologist said the people waiting outside are going to think I gave you a few drinks.. He is sweet, tells me a few things helps me along *soft smiles* My Christmas was special as to the new years we had. I can not explain what happened to me on new years eve, when my hubby and I hugged each other, something happened, I know he felt it too, as we looked into each others eyes and hugged once again,*till someone broke us up for their hugs... I don't know there was just something something....
We also received the most incredible gift from the men that my husband works with and his boss. Since September of this year the men started putting 5 dollars in a pot and what they made the boss matched it. We were given that on Christmas eve, it was a great sum of money and a letter telling us it was to help with all our travels and my hubby's time off work for it. Also there is a card to give 40 cents off a liter of gas been we have a large pick up truck and that's another bonus as well, you know just as you loose hope in people there is some angels that pop by to let you know that your still thought of,,, snap,,, got me crying again..my bad....that's me getting emotional..one of my many faults *shrug shoulders* Embarassed .
There is this one thing that has been bothering me, its my face on the right side where my tumor is, my lip feels like it is stuck right out, same as the funny tingles I have on my left are starting on my right, I guess I will have to mention this to my medical team....Well I feel better now that I have touched base with you,,,take care my on line friends......
Take care and talk soon xox *HUGZ*

Tam~

P.S> Chels you may take any of my quotes, makes me feel good some enjoy them as I do....

Hi Everyone,
Well I have some news but not all of it. My family doctor called me today and gave me the write up of my mri I had last week, he says that he only has the results from what they say here in my home town, this was not seen by my surgeon,,,,the full exam was paxed *spelling* to send by computer he said to the oncology in the town I go for my biopsies and appointments. Anyhow to make a long story short, he says it said that there was no change in the size from last September, although there are no dimensions this time, this is somewhat good news I am thinking, I do have a concern about what other thing he had said (that there is an enhancement in both tests, a T1 and some other one I can not remember *sorry* and there is a midline shift to the left, it does not seem to be very big to me it's 4mm.) I do not know what these this means but if anyone can give what they know of it, just to have me at ease before I return for the full read of the exam.

Tam, it is a mixed report: good that there has been no change but sort of bad to hear that there is a midline shift. 4mm is not very big at all and the shift probably will not cause any problems. I am sure you can't wait to talk with your own surgeon. You probably have a lot of questions for him/her.

Hi all, hope it was a good day for everyone.. Smile

Going to just get right to it..... I received a call from my surgeons secretary today telling me there is really no change. They will schedule another mri in a years time. Seems a long stretch to me, but maybe that's for the best *shrugs shoulders* here are the exact differences in my Feb 08 to Sept 08 and Jan 09 mri's ; *showing a midline shift in Jan 09*.
It was 6.4cm x 4.4cm x 5.6cm, now it measures 7.0cm x 5.2cm x 6.4cm and now having a midline shift of 0.4mm. I am no doctor but to me that is a growth. Maybe I have to wait for a massive seizure or loose complete movement of my body before something will be done.
I am so confused. What if they are waiting to long? I will sign off now before I self pity because I am going there now...Take care all my friends and big hugz for all xx.

Hello my friends.
Hope you are all doing well. Lot's of snow here and suppose to be getting more snow..yahoo NOT!! I would love to send some away..any takers??? ha-ha. Well my doctor has called and I am scheduled in June for another mri he feels a year is to long... I felt it was also specially with the midline shift, but we will have to wait and see for the next mri, I had 4 mri's this pass fall and I feel that was to many...but any how....
I have a really embarrassing and annoying thing that has been going on with me for the pass week, I drool, Embarassed .. because of the numbness in my face I don't feel/notice until it goes to where I can feel more. Also when I drink some will dribble out of my mouth, I know I am not missing my mouth its just coming out of my mouth. The saliva is making sores that are on the corners of my mouth and little ones running down to the dip before my chin. I am treating the sores with a medicated lip balm right now, applying it up to 6 times a day. The skin seems to be damaged at the corners of my mouth. My pharmacist said the skin looks damaged and I noticed as well. The cracks/sores at the corners of my mouth are about 2cm long. I know it sounds gross and it is very embarrassing Embarassed . Has anyone with a face numbness had this happen also?
Looking forward for a reply, Enjoy your day Wink

Hello my friends..
LOL @ Jim, I don't know where I am going to end up. There is a team of doctors in Quebec. They say it's the only place they do this gamma knife. I never heard of this before, scares me, but if they feel they can fix me, go for it! Some of my doctors say wait and see and other says start chemo...*shrug shoulders* I am loosing some confidence here so......
I am now looking up information on the internet now. I decided to check in here with you all. I have not been here in a long time....
